A half day interactive workshop to give Health Care Assistants and Assistant Practitioners an overview of some current professional and practice issues affecting them and their roles in general practice. Practice nurses who work in teams with HCAs and APs may also benefit from attending this workshop.

At the end of this workshop attendees will have the resources to:
recognise what is happening nationally regarding registration, the regulation of healthcare workers and the care certificate
understand professional indemnity
recognise the principles and legal aspects of accountability and delegation
understand what reflection is, why we need to reflect, and how we can reflect
understand what is meant by the terms portfolio and professional development plan and to understand the importance of these
be able to use learning opportunities and reflective practice to contribute to personal development
extend their knowledge of the legal aspects of consent and its implications in everyday practice in their own working environment
extend their knowledge of confidentiality and its implications in everyday practice in their own working environment
recognise the importance of, and the legal issues surrounding record keeping in healthcare
identify personal SMART objectives for taking theory and learning from the study day back to practice
