In early June the BMA and NHS Property Services (NHSPS) reached an out of court agreement to reduce the outstanding service charges owed by five practices, going back a number of years. The combined reduction for all five of the practices totalled over £750,000, with one practice having a reduction of over £400,000 and the smallest reduction being over £25,000.
The BMA say that this test case should mean other practices who are being pursued by NHSPS for outstanding service charges should be able to get them reduced. The BMA press release on the legal settlement is here and their guidance on service charges here.
