Following the recent cyber-attack on NHS systems we have produced some tips to help secure your systems whilst recognising that practices often have limited control over them.
Our latest workforce survey will be arriving with practices via email next week. A strong response rate enables us to raise workforce issues with commissioners, political leaders and the media, so please take time to complete it.
Our conference ‘Under pressure: stabilise, transform and sustain general practice for London’ on 27 April was well attended and generated some lively debate on how to support our under-pressure profession.
GUEST BLOG – Working together to support general practice nurses
This month Paula Marsden, Anne Macrae and Louise Ashwood explain how they set up the Lambeth nurse leads model to support other general practice nurses in their borough.
Practices have until 7 June 2017 to submit details of complaints associated with their NHS work. This collection refers to complaints received between 1 April 2016 and 31 March 2017.
4 July: Essential survival kit for newly qualified, sessional and locum GPs
A practical one day conference for GPs who are about to complete their training; in the early years of their careers or looking for a change. You will learn what they don’t teach you in VTS, what isn’t covered in the curriculum and what you won’t find anywhere else.
Following the national LMC conference, Dr Ben Molyneux of City and Hackney LMC’s motion on providing non-NHS services to registered patients was covered in Pulse and twice in The Times which also reported on the successful motion from Tower Hamlets LMC for a ballot on a collective closing of lists. A call for GPs to be added to the UK shortage occupation list also at the conference was covered by GP Online. Our new waiting room video was covered by GP Online on 17 May, quoting Londonwide LMCs’ CEO, Dr Michelle Drage.
We continue to be very active in promoting the interests of London GPs and practice staff on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. We also support practices that are approached with media requests, you can find details of how to get support here.
