Alongside our annual general meeting we will be hosting our inaugural London General Practice Awards in Parliament, recognising the dedication and enterprise of our hard working GPs and practice teams across the Capital.
We also hope to use the event as an opportunity to talk to MPs, peers, journalists and other opinion formers about the challenges facing GPs and their teams at the moment, and to secure their support and allyship.
Nominations closed on 30 November, the 11 award categories are:
- London General Practice Safety Award – recognising a group or individual’s contributions to safe general practice services;
- London LMC Member Award one for each of the five London ICB area – for demonstrating outstanding commitment to safe sustainable care and the future of general practice;
- London General Practice Nursing Team Award – for outstanding contribution to patient care and practice team collaboration;
- London General Practice Non-Clinical Team Award – for outstanding contribution to patient care and practice team collaboration;
- London General Practice Patient Group Award – recognising the patient group that has worked in partnership with general practice to co-create/support safe, high quality sustainable services;
- London General Practice Long Service Award;
- London General Practice Parliamentary Champion Award – for advocacy and support for general practice in the Capital.
We will also be taking the time to remember colleagues we have lost in the past year, shared at the same time as nominations. The awards are pan-London and those practicing in Barking & Dagenham and Havering (BDH LMCs) and Kingston, Richmond and Croydon (Surrey and Sussex LMCs) were able to nominate themselves or local colleagues.
Attendance
The event will be held in the House of Commons between 2:30 – 4:50pm, on Thursday 6 February.
People working in London general practice can register their interest in attending before Friday 6 December. MPs or journalists wishing to attend should email comms@lmc.org.uk.
Confirmation of attendance will be sent out later in December after registrations of interest have closed, due to limited numbers/limitations of Parliamentary venue. We will also be trying to ensure that there are attendees from areas where MPs have confirmed their attendance.
