Lambeth LMC newsletter – November 2022

  • Local LMC newsletters

Dear colleagues,

In our November meeting we discussed the pros and cons of an alert system for General Practice, similar to that used in secondary care. This has been pioneered by Devon LMC: https://www.devonlmc.co.uk/general-practice-alert-state. It is being piloted in north London, and we look forward to the outcome. In SE London, the problems with the Safeguarding LIS will be discussed by Londonwide LMCs with the ICS who commission it.

We are also troubled by communications around the various vaccine programmes, both who is delivering what and where, and getting data back into our practice systems. More generally, the speed and variety of IT/IG/Data Sharing changes is bewildering and practice managers report gaps in provision and no time to implement new systems properly.

Our LMC and ICB representatives will feedback to SEL and are pushing for a clearer governance system. The Federation have sent out more communications about WriteBack and how to book Hub appointments using GP Connect. The BMA is working hard to get NHSDigital to slow the rollout of accelerated access to patient records. Ideally, this would be an opt-in process to keep data more secure.

In January 2023 we will have some changes to our committee membership, with both leavers and joiners. We do still have vacancies, so if you our any of your colleagues are interested in standing to learn more, please do email David Moore (David.moore@lmc.org.uk). Induction and training are provided.

Yours faithfully,

Dr Penelope Jarrett
